WELCOME TO YOUR "I-CARE" FAMILY OPTOMETRIC PRACTICE!

Your Eye Sight is one of the most precious gifts you have. This is why caring for your eyes is so important to you.

An eye examination is not simply about getting new spectacles - its also a vital eyehealth check.

Dr. Hafiz H. Walji is a qualified Doctor of Optometry who will make you feel comfortable during your visit and ensure that every step of the eye examination process is fully explained and that a summary on the health of your eyes is provided. He will conduct a thorough eye examination using state-of-the-art instruments to diagnose your eyesight and the health of your eyes.

His comprehensive eye examination looks for early signs of eye diseases such as Glaucoma and Cataracts. Diseases such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Vascular Disease can be detected in the eyes. Not only can eye conditions be diagnosed, but the eyes can also give us insight into your general health and are an important part of your preventative health care regime.

We recommend regular eye examinations every one year as the ideal, but no more than two years, depending on your age and visual health, regardless of the need for eyeglassess.

Eye Health Assessment and Vision Evaluation

After a friendly 'Hello' and 'My name is', you should find yourself in the chair of your optometrist asking questions to establish reasons for your visit and what symptoms you may be experiencing with your eyes. An inquiry into your general health, medications taken, family health and eye history is quite normal and essential as many factors can affect your eyes.

Your prescription will then be determined after the data from the eye exam has been entered into the computerized testing unit also known as a phoropter. You will find yourself looking at a succession of test charts through various lenses placed into the unit. Dr. H. H. Walji will ask questions about the charts, which will determine whether you are far-sighted, near-sighted, astigmatic, presbyopic, or a combination of these.

The equipment also enables us to check your eye muscles, so tests which tell us if the two eyes are working together can be done. Furthermore, your close-up vision will be assessed to ensure that no prescription is required when you are on the computer or reading a book.
